Here is brief list of some of the main music equipment SL Hadbai uses to make his remixes and original tracks. Some of the products he uses have been reviewed by the DJ Voice website.

Hardware

  • Bose Acoustimass 6 - nice hi-fi speakers
  • Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live Plat 5.1 - good value card with Soundfont support and useful digital input/outputs
  • Gateway G7-600 - trusty computer which I've been using for several years
  • Grundig Fine Arts Hi-fi - slightly old now, CD occasionally skips now
  • Roland UA100 - high quality audio interface for when I'm recording real instruments or vocals
  • Sony ECM-MS907 - good quality mic (not studio standard though)
  • Sony MDR-V150 - cheap headphones for occasional monitoring

Software

  • Cakewalk Fruityloops 3.0 - utterly fantastic programme, best value music programme you can buy
  • Cakewalk Sonar XL 1.0 - I use it to programme MIDI and then mix to WAV but also handles audio too
  • Sonic Foundry Acid Pro 3.0 - useful for funky chopper effects
  • Sonic Foundry Sound Forge 5.0 - good audio mastering tool
  • Syntrillium Cool Edit Pro 1.2 - loads of effects to edit audio
  • Steinberg Wavelab 3.0 - audio editor, I use it to put together my projects with its multitrack editor.
